Other Warrior Quotes (Tuioti coached his wife's delivery during UH's flight home from Fresno, paperwork delay kept Kapono Rawlins-Crivello out until now)

About talking with his wife while she was in labor during his flight back to Hawaii, Tony Tuioti said:
"I told her to take deep breaths." (HSA)


About the Fresno State game Tony's wife Keala said:
"Good job. I can't wait until you get home." (HSA)


HSA Note: "But shortly after, Keala felt a sharp contraction. Ten minutes later, there was another one. Tony encouraged his wife to use the Lamaze breathing technique whenever she felt pain. At the time, Tony was boarding UH's flight from Fresno to Las Vegas. Shortly after arriving in Las Vegas, Tony called Keala, who said she was leaving their North Shore house for the hospital in Moanalua. Tony stayed on the phone the entire time, trying to calm Keala."


About hearing his wife go through labor while he was on the phone with her, Tuioti said:
"This is probably the most vulnerable position you can be in as a man, hearing your wife go through that. It gives you great appreciation for women and their strength and what they do." (HSA)


About talking with his wife while the plane was moving on the runway in Las Vegas, Tuioti said:
"I told her I loved her, and I would keep talking until the phone cut off. It was hard to sleep. You never know what can happen in labor. All I did was say a prayer. I believe in the power of prayer." (HSA)


About calling his wife once the plane landed, Tuioti said:
"I said, 'Is it a boy or a girl?' She said the baby is 9 pounds, 4 ounces.' I said, 'Oh, it's a boy.' She said, 'No, it's a girl.' " (HSA)

About how his teammates have been comparing him to Tony Montana (Scarface) after he had a cut under his right eye that required 25 stitches to close, Aaron Brown said:

About how his chin strap broke during a tackle during the Fresno State game, causing his helmet to fall off and then the ball-carrier's cleat hit his face when he fell to the ground, Brown said:
"When I looked down, my (right) hand was all bloody. I thought I lost my (right) eye at first. I couldn't see out of it." (HSA)


About how they put a butterfly bandage on the cut and it continued to bleed, but he went back into the game, Brown said:
"The game wasn't over yet. My face has nothing to do with my legs, so I'm going to go. It's the love of the game. Coach always talks about finishing. That's what I did. I finished the game." (HSA)


HSA Note: "In an intermediate game several years ago, defensive end Kapono Rawlins-Crivello tackled running back Mana Lolotai. Both players stood up and stared at their mirror images. It was the first time the two second cousins met."


About how a delay in filing his paperwork kept him ineligible to play this season until this past Friday, with this being his final year of eligibility, Kapono Rawlins-Crivello said:
