UH Note: "Last week Donovan received a letter from Washington State notifying its intent to cancel the game. The game was supposed to be the final game of a three-game series between the schools. The teams met in November of last season in Honolulu and will play again this Saturday in Seattle, Wash. Washington State cited uncertain changes in the Pac-10 scheduling for the 2011 season as the reason for pulling out of the game. WSU will pay the $300,000 cancellation fee within 30 days of the scheduled game, which was set for November 26, 2011."
About how he needs to fill their schedule now that they have an opening in 2011, JD said;
"Even though this wasn't a contract that was done during my tenure, Washington State has notified us they will comply with the buyout terms so our job now is to find a replacement game." (UH)
