Feature article on Joey Iosefa and the competition at RB

Praising the play of Joey Iosefa this spring, RB coach Brian Smith said:
"Joey Iosefa's been a great surprise. He looks a lot quicker, he's understanding the offense a lot better, getting a lot more comfortable, so he's had a really good spring so far." (HSA)

About their open spots at RB with Alex Green and Chizzy Dimude gone from last season's team, Iosefa said:
"It motivates me and I see this as my shot. I haven't played for so long I'm going to give 100 percent effort every day." (HSA)

About how Iosefa had a lot to learn about the RB position while he was redshirting, Smith said:
"He'd never really been a running back before so the reads were new to him, the footwork was new to him, everything was pretty new to him." (HSA)

Praising the way that Iosefa plays, Smith said:
"Not only is he physical but he plays real hard, too. He plays though the whistle." (HSA)

About how Sterling Smith is doing well and is their #1 RB now, Smith said:
"I think Sterling is showing he can do a lot of the things Alex was doing. He just needs to translate it to the field and get comfortable in the offense and play with a lot of confidence." (HSA)

About how the open starting spot at RB should be a great motivator for all of their RBs, Smith said:
"It's wide open, so I hope they all see there is a great opportunity there. Competition's great, it's going to get them all better and we'll see who really wants to play the most." (HSA)
