Feature article on Chad Owens in the Toronto Star

Star = Toronto Star

Star Note: "Seventeen days ago, Chad Owens was in the middle of what appeared to be a losing battle to land a job with the Montreal Alouettes. Today, the Toronto Argonauts are hailing him as one of the most exciting and consequential players in the CFL."

Star Note: "Owens' speed, moves and instincts are striking fear in opposing teams as he has sent a message that every kick has big-return potential. He's also showing potential as a wide receiver."

About how Chad's success does not surprise him, Toronto head coach Jim Barker (who traded a 4th-round pick for Chad) said:
"When I was in Calgary I tried to get him. He's a special player." (Star)

Asked what makes Chad special, Barker said:
"He just has a knack for it and he has a tremendous amount of confidence. He's the ultimate warrior." (Star)

About how he's having fun, Chad Owens said:
"I feel like I'm in college again. The reason I say that is because I'm just out here having fun, playing the game I love with no pressure. When I'm like that, I'm at my best." (Star)

About how the confidence his teammates have in him have helped his success, Owens said:
"I'm playing within myself. I'm not trying to do too much, but at the same time you've got to go out there with a mentality that you're going to score, make a big play." (Star)

About how he enjoys returning missed FGs, Owens said:
"A field goal return is a new aspect for me and I love it. Anytime we get to do a return that's a very exciting part of the game for the fans, for myself, for my teammates it's a big momentum changer." (Star)

About how his family will be joining him in Toronto, Owens said:
"They need to be part of this special thing we've got going on here in Toronto and I want them to experience it with me." (Star)
