Happy to be with the Toronto Argonauts, Chad Owens said:
"I'm surrounded by a great group of guys and I'm just trying to do my part. If that means returning balls for touchdowns, that's what I am going to do. If that means making a catch on offence, that is what I'm going to do." (TS)
TS Note: "In the Argos' first two games, Owens has returned a punt and a missed field goal for touchdowns. That's two more special-teams majors than the Argos had all of last year."
TS Note: "When Argos head coach Jim Barker worked for Calgary, he tried to pry Owens from Montreal, but finally was able to do so when he sent a fourth-rounder in 2011 to the Alouettes. While he was at the University of Hawaii, Owens set an NCAA record for a season with five punt-return TDs in 2004.
About Chad's TDs in their first 2 games of the season, offensive guard Taylor Robertson said:
"Two returns in two weeks (for touchdowns)? Thanks, Montreal. He's a hell of a player. No one knows what is going to happen when he gets the ball. He needs a crease about three-inches wide, and he can break it any time." (TS)
TS Note: "And to think that Owens isn't quite in the right frame of mind. He will be once his wife, Rena, and children Chad (7), Areana (5) and Sierra-Lynn (2) join him in Toronto."
Happy that his family will be joining him in Toronto, Owens said:
"I can't wait for them to get here. I want them with me. They need to be part of this special thing we have going on here. The guys here believe in me. I don't feel as if I have to go out there and do too much — just go out there and run. And be me." (TS)
