Warrior Quotes from the Star-Bulletin

Asked what he would do if he was NMSU head coach DeWayne Walker and was preparing to face UH's offense after their 360 yards rushing and 337 yards passing against Utah State, Mac said:
"I'd try to make them one-dimensional. Usually you try to take away the run game. And I would try to keep their offense off the field." (HSB)

Praising the job that UH's OL did to enable LWJ's success against Utah State, Mac said:
"Running the ball is a physical, tough thing. The offensive line did a great job of blocking, they got him past (the line of scrimmage) and he'd make them miss and the receivers took over from there. It was really a total combination of things, so it really does make me feel good that he got that. (HSB)

About how LWJ has had to overcome a lot of injuries at UH, Mac said:
"He's been nicked up and injured and he's got himself together health-wise, mentally, the whole part of the game. He's having a great life and having fun and that's the way it should be. ... He's got great speed, great vision, he's a strong guy, blocks well. And then Alex is coming, too." (HSB)

Crediting Kealoha Pilares for some of their success in their running game, Mac said:
"(Pilares) graded out higher than any receiver because of his run blocking, because of his unselfishness running down the football field. Our receivers played their best game, and a lot of that run was because they were blocking and they were running their guys off." (HSB)

About Spencer Smith played despite being in the hospital for a staph infection, Mac said:
"They released him. but we were being careful, so he proved to the doctors that he was fine and he was, and played the whole game, then we got him out." (HSB)

About how R.J. Kiesel-Kauhane was fitted with a cast on his broken had and had 4 tackles in the Utah State game, Mac said:
"He had a decision if he wanted to have it operated on and miss the season or cast it up and play." (HSB)

About how a lot of Warriors are playing despite being injured, Mac said:
"We have a lot of guys who are playing hurt." (HSB)
