Brent Rausch is the #2 QB

HA Note: "Alexander gets two-thirds of the snaps in 6-on-7 and team drills; Rausch takes the remaining third. Bryant Moniz, the No. 3 quarterback, and Shane Austin take mental reps during those sessions."

About why Rausch was replaced as the starter before the Florida game last year, Rolo said:
"When we put together our game plan for Florida, we wanted to be conservative, slow the game down, not make mistakes. Plus, with his arm injury, he was more of a risky guy." (HA)

HA Note: "But Rolovich said Rausch is now comfortable in the four-wide offense, and has improved in reading defenses and making better decisions."

About being the backup QB, Rausch said:
"No. 2 is cool. I'm happy with that. I'm doing something for the team this year. Last year, I was fourth or fifth string. I couldn't help out the boys too much. This year, hopefully, I'll be able to help them out." (HA)

About choosing Rausch over Moniz for the #2 QB spot, Mac said:
"It was a tough call. (Quarterbacks coach Nick Rolovich) has done a great job with the quarterbacks and Brent Rausch has competed and he really picked his game up. He's running the offense, he's got an excellent arm, good feel for the game. His experience in the offense
has helped him, but he's worked very hard also. I wouldn't be afraid to have Brent in the game at any time, and Moniz is real close to that also." (HSB)

About how he's never been a #2 QB before, Rausch said:
"Never done it before, but it'll be cool. It'll just be getting my mind ready, the mind-set is a little bit different." (HSB)

About being able to return to practice after missing most of the last week, Tank Hopkins said:
"I just hate sitting out of practice. I just need to get better every day. I felt good today." (HSB)
