LT/LG Keith AhSoon to miss 6 weeks with an MCL injury
About how Keith AhSoon was diagnosed with a 3rd-degree sprain in his left knee and is expected to be out about 6 weeks, which is better than how they thought they might lose him for the season, Mack said:
"I'm glad he'll be able to come back (this season)." (HA)
HA Note: "AhSoon, a fifth-year senior from American Samoa, yesterday was diagnosed with a partial tear in the medial collateral ligament. He will not require surgery. His anterior cruciate ligament was not damaged."
HA Note: "AhSoon suffered the injury when he was struck by an Oregon State linebacker in the Warriors' 45-7 loss Saturday. The linebacker, according to AhSoon, missed a tackle and inadvertently fell against AhSoon's left leg."
About AhSoon's injury, Mack said:
"He's such a great guy. It just killed me that he got hurt." (HA)
Staying positive, AhSoon said:
"You can't worry about things you can't control." (HA)
Hoping to return as soon as possible, AhSoon said:
"I'm hoping for the best." (HA)
Happy that AhSoon won't need to have surgery, Mack said:
"I'm glad for him that he doesn't have to have it operated on." (HSB)
HSB Note: "With AhSoon and Laupepa Letuli (shoulder) out of action, Aaron Kia practiced with the first unit at left tackle yesterday. Offensive line coach Brian Smith is hopeful Letuli will be available for the Warriors' WAC opener against San Jose State next week."
About losing AhSoon, OL coach Brian Smith said:
"It's huge. He's a returning starter and a leader for the group. But we have to reload and get better and keep working." (HSB)
HSB Note: "Smith said sophomore Adrian Thomas, currently the backup at right tackle, would get some work on the left side and redshirt freshman Clayton Laurel would get more repetitions as the Warriors look to build depth at the position."
