Praising JJ, Bobby Hebert (QB with the Saints and then under JJ at Atlanta) said:
"I can only speak for myself. June Jones has the greatest offensive mind in the history of football. Ask Warren Moon, and he'll tell you the same thing. I spent four years under him in Atlanta, and he was the reason I made the Pro Bowl in '94. As far as the Sugar Bowl goes, I don't know how the Hawaii defense will do against Georgia. But I promise you, with a month to get ready, Hawaii is going to score a lot of points against the Bulldogs." (NOLA)
NOLA Note: " "It's the biggest thing since statehood," said a sun-tanned Warriors fan old enough to remember the day in 1959 when a group of volcanic and coral islands 2,400 miles west of San Francisco joined the Union as the 50th state."
NOLA Note: "Last Saturday, as the Warriors were winding up their regular season against Washington, there was a symphony in progress in downtown Honolulu. Finally, a timeout between numbers. Whereupon, the man holding the baton announced the score at the time. "21-0, Washington," he intoned. A groan from the audience. And then: "Do not worry," said the maestro. "There's plenty of time left." There was, just enough time for the Warriors to score the winning touchdown in the final 44 seconds."
NOLA Note: "When the Warriors defeated Washington, it was a matter of a school with a $2.2 million football budget defeating one with a budget of $13.8 million. And Georgia's is far, far larger than Washington's."
