Quotes from Samson

About the 6 root canals he had right before minicamp:
"I'm just a rookie and I can handle pain," Satele says. "It didn't bother me, honestly. I couldn't really talk but at the same time I was out there trying to fight for my job. It was something I wanted to get done and I'm happy it's done because it's a lifetime investment." (MiamiDolphins.com)

MD Note: "Satele tried to keep the news to himself, which is typical of his quiet demeanor, and just wanted to go about practice like business as usual. He didn't tell any of his teammates, not even his fellow University of Hawaii grads Tala Esera and Reagan Mauia.

But during one of the drills during the three-day minicamp, offensive line coach Hudson Houck came up to Satele and quietly asked him how he was doing. Satele, a four-year starter at Hawaii who started a school record 53 consecutive games, was working with the first group at the time and when they heard Houck mention Satele's root canals their reaction spoke volumes in terms of a new level of respect."

About the root canals, Samson said:
"They did it over two days, and unless you like to lie down and look at the lights for about five hours it's not real comfortable. The actual procedure wasn't that bad but the pain afterwards was a challenge." (MiamiDolphins.com)

After the minicamp, Cam Cameron said about Samson:
"I'm talking about his toughness. He never flinched, never said a word. I have never been around a guy yet that really practiced a whole practice with one root canal and he's had (six) in the last however many days. One thing is; we know he's smart and we know he's tough, which goes a long way at that position. We're very pleased with his progress." (MiamiDolphins.com)

About comparisons with Miami's Hall-of-Fame center Dwight Stephenson:
"I give my respect to him knowing that he was the best center there ever was in Miami, any to stay with the same team like he did is my motivation. I'm real eager just to look forward to the season and look forward to my future with the Dolphins and stay here forever. I want to be here forever because it's like Hawaii with no mountains."
