More Quotes from Spring Practice Day 1
About not regretting his decision to withdraw from the NFL draft, Colt said:
"I'm definitely glad I stayed. This is where I want to be. I'm in no hurry to get out of here or rush anything. I'm just excited for next year." (AP)
"I came back for me and my teammates to have a big year and do a lot of big things and give Hawaii another fun year to be proud about." (AP)
AP note: "With schedules finalized at most schools, the Warriors may be left with playing two Division I-AA teams, which would neither help the program nor Brennan's Heisman Trophy chances, even with lopsided wins."
Asked about his Heisman chances, Colt said:
"Jeez. That's a long time away from now. I think I'll just keep it like I did last year and not worry about that or pay too much attention to it." (AP)
Feeling that he can do better this year, Colt said:
"I'm ready to go and everything. I'm really trying to take it up a couple levels." (AP)
Note: AP reports that Colt said he's up to about 205 pounds and hopes to get bigger and stronger. They also note that his practice helmet has a Bob Marley sticker on the side.
About the focus of Spring Practice, Colt said:
"I think we're dedicated this spring to kind of get the offense together and fill in the holes in on the O-line and running back and getting the receivers ready." (AP)
About having an incomplete schedule, JJ said that they would play:
"whoever. We're going to have the same attitude about that team as we did last year against Alabama. We're confident things will get handled and we're confident we're going to be a good football team. We'll be ready to play." (AP)
About how not knowing their first opponent prevents them from preparing and watching game film, Bess said:
"We can't do that. It's definitely frustrating, but we can't let that determine how we do out here. We have to go hard no matter what." (AP)
Hoping for a big-name opponent to fill out their schedule, Bess said:
"I don't think Hawaii has ever had an opportunity to go BCS. Hopefully we can get a big-time school and upset them and get our school out there." (AP)
About their open DC job, with GM as an "observer" of Spring Practice, JJ said:
"We're still in a process and hopefully it will be sorted out in a week or so." (AP)
About practicing at wideout during Spring Practice, Bess said:

About how they have a lot of candidates at RB this Spring, JJ said:
"We've got one back but we got about 30 guys, I think. Obviously someone wants to replace Nate." (AP)
