Haka update
About leaving the haka up to the refs in the game, WAC Commissioner Karl Benson said:
"They are going to enforce NCAA Rule No. 9 along with all the other NCAA football rules just like they do every Saturday." (HA)
"Like a lot of football rules, it is a judgment; a judgment call and it requires individual interpretation. Our officials are not being instructed to do anything different than they do every Saturday. They (the instructions) are no different than any other game. No different than the Boise State-Wyoming or Nevada-Nicholls State games." (HA)
Benson said that his attendance at the UNLV game was planned months in advance and based:
"upon what happened last week." (HA)
"I'm not here to enforce rules, it is the officials on the field who do that." (HA)
About how the team worked on the haka several times yesterday, Cal Lee said:
"It looks good." (HA)
About how they will continue to do the haka, JJ said:
"We're going to keep doing it. It's part of what this team is." (HSB)
