Colt Brennan seriously injured in a car accident in Kona

About the car accident, Colt's father Terry Brennan said:
"This is our worst nightmare. You always worry about safety, whether you're in Hawaii or on the mainland." (HSA)


HSA Note: "Colt Brennan was a passenger in an SUV driven by his girlfriend, Shakti Stream. They were headed north on Queen Kaahumanu Highway near the 90-mile marker at about 9:30 a.m. yesterday. Stream told police the brake malfunctioned, causing the SUV to cross the center line and collide head-on with a Saab sedan driven by a 47-year-old woman, a source said, adding that neither vehicle was speeding."


HSA Note: "» Colt Brennan: He suffered cracked ribs, an injured left collarbone and possible head trauma; taken to Queen's hospital yesterday.

» Shakti Stream: Brennan's girlfriend sustained a broken collarbone; was hospitalized in Kona overnight.

» Second driver: An unidentified woman, 47, had serious leg injuries; taken to an Oahu hospital yesterday."

HSA Note: "Police said Brennan was a passenger in an SUV driven by Shakti Stream, 27, his girlfriend and a Kona resident. The SUV was traveling north on Queen Kaahumanu Highway near the 90-mile marker at about 9:30 a.m. According to a source, Stream told police the brake malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to cross the center line and collide head-on with the Saab. A source said neither vehicle was speeding."


HSA Note: "Terry Brennan said his son spent the past few weeks with Stream on the Big Island. He said his son and Stream were en route to a volleyball event when they were involved in the accident."


About Colt's injuries and the others injured in the accident, Rich Miano said:
"This is a sad situation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Colt and his family and the two women injured and their families. We wish them all a healthy recovery." (HSA)
