Fresno State's scout team offense enjoys portraying UH's offense

FB = Fresno Bee

About how he's been enjoying running UH's offense with the rest of their scout team and hopes that Fresno State can use the offense when he can play next year, freshman Josh Harper said:
"It's been fun. We can use the same package next year or something similar to it." (FB)

Asked what he likes about running UH's offense with the scout team, freshman Davon Dunn said:
"All the routes. Being able to read [the defense] and [Derek] Carr back there just launching it." (FB)

About how Derek Carr has been running UH's offense well, Harper said:
"He's just dealing it  ... and he's spreading it out to everybody." (FB)

About how his parents watched him run UH's offense in practice yesterday, Derek Carr said:
"It's cool, it's back to my roots from high school, spreading it out a little bit. I'm just trying to give the defense the best look, hopefully a better look than they'll see during the game. That's the plan." (FB)

Praising the scout team offense for preparing them for UH's offense, DB Desia Dunn said:
"It's hard to give the same look as Hawaii because they've been running that system for 10 years. For our players to be used to our system and jump into that Hawaii system is pretty tough, but they're doing a pretty good job so far." (FB)

About running the scout team offense, Carr said:
"I'm just dropping back, reading the defense. If you see a big hole and you see a receiver fill it, it's pretty nice." (FB)

FB Note: "The scout team -- which includes the next generation of receivers Harper, Davon Dunn, Victor Dean and Alex Jefferies -- has connected on some highlight plays in practice. But the defense has made some plays as well."

About how their defense has been ready to take advantage of any of his mistakes, Carr said:
"If I miss a throw by an inch, they're there to make a play on it. It's helping me to become more accurate. [Tuesday] they weren't giving me any windows. I was having to really make some accurate throws. If I were to miss one, they were there to bat it down. ... They're going to be ready. I have no doubt." (FB)

Looking forward to their offense next year, where they return everyone except senior receiver Devon Wylie, Desia Dunn said:
"With D-Carr, if you let him drop back and give him protection, he'll pick a defense apart. He reads defenses just as well as anybody I've seen. I get a better look playing against him in practice than sometimes in games. ... They have a vertical threat, big guys, small guy, fast guys. They have every type of receiver, so I think they'll be very dangerous." (FB)
