Nevada's Athletic Director cited travel costs to Hawaii as a reason to leave the WAC for the MWC

DP = Denver Post

Asked why they would leave the WAC for the MWC, Nevada Athletic Director Cary Groth said:
"(President Milton Glick and I) thought it was in the best interest of our program, not only the athletic program but the institution and for our community." (DP)

DP Note: "More specifically, she pointed to the MWC's four NCAA men's basketball bids and more overall postseason opportunities. Plus, the tighter MWC footprint is easier to get around."

Citing travel costs to Hawaii as a big problem, Groth said:
"Everyone loves to go to Hawaii, but it's very expensive. It kills Olympic sports." (DP)
