Feature on the Warriors keeping up with their homework during their 13-day road trip
About rushing to submit his homework for a finance class after practice ended late, Vaughn Meatoga said:
"If your class starts at 10:30 in Hawaii, you need to have your homework in before the start of class, even if you're in another state. You don't get an advantage because you're getting ready for a football game." (HSA)
HSA Note: "For this three-city, 13-day road trip, the Warriors worked out assignments with their professors in advance. The lessons are online, and homework is submitted through e-mail. There are academic advisers traveling to administer tests. Study halls are mandatory."
About how they have to keep up with their homework, Allen Sampson said:
"You have to keep up. Coach (Greg McMackin) makes sure that school comes first. A lot of times, he'll cancel meetings so we can study." (HSA)
HSA Note: "Two cousins of quarterback Bryant Moniz had to deliver products from California to Las Vegas on Tuesday. They volunteered to bring along a computer for Moniz to use for schoolwork."
About cramming for a chemistry test two days before the game against Army, Mana Silva said:
"I was trying to focus on different formulas. It was tough, because I was away from class." (HSA)
About returning to practice after undergoing medical tests, Aaron Brown said:
"I've undergone a few tests over a couple of days, and they ruled it wasn't a concussion. I feel good, and I'm ready to go out there and hit some people again." (HSA)
HSA Note: "Brown and Po'okela Ahmad split time at outside linebacker in two defensive schemes."
About how Brown is ready for a featured role in their defense, Dave Aranda said:
"He's a playmaker. The more we can feature him, the better our defense will be, the more plays we'll make." (HSA)
About how #1 center Matagisila Lefiti is expected to be medically cleared to play next week, Gordy Shaw said:
"We've got a rule: You don't lose your starting position because of an injury. We'll play (Lefiti) in practice, and see if he's 100 percent. It's going to take him a little while to get into football shape. We'll see how he does, and we'll go from there." (HSA)
About how Bronson Tiwanak has played well in replacing Lefiti, Shaw said:
"Bronson has played very solid in the first two games." (HSA)
