TR Note: "The Titans have addressed its defensive back issues by signing two veteran free agents this offseason, but 2009 third round draft pick Ryan Mouton may have the best opportunity to win the starting job opposite Cortland Finnegan once training camp begins in four months. The Titans recently re-signed veteran cornerback Rod Hood to another one-year deal and agreed to terms with Tye Hill earlier this week, adding a much-needed veteran presence to the back end of the roster, something the team lacked for the first half of the 2009 season. As it stands now, Hood and Hall will compete with Mouton and fellow 2009 draft pick Jason McCourty throughout the summer for the starting job."
About how he thinks that Ryan Mouton will have a great chance to win a starting spot since the Titans let starting CB Nick Harper go, CB Cortland Finnegan said:
''They have high expectations for Ryan Mouton. Rod Hood has been there and done that. He's definitely a great veteran guy. I like Jason McCourty, too. He is a hard working guy. It's going to be a great battle.'' (TR)
TR Note: "Mouton struggled throughout his rookie season after being thrown into the starting lineup early on and battled preseason injuries. As the season progressed, however, coaches said he settled down and showed improvements in his technique. The upcoming preseason battle should also benefit the younger players, Finnegan said."
About the battle in preseason for the starting spot, Finnegan said:
''That competition in that place always breeds for better guys to step up. It'll be interesting. I know they like Mouton. He's got a lot of upside and so does McCourty so it'll be an interesting battle in training camp.'' (TR)
