Feature article on JC transfers London Sapolu and Darius Bright

About how London Sapolu and Darius Bright will benefit from being able to join them in the spring, Mack said:
"It's tremendous because they get not only an introduction to the academics, but they get spring ball so they learn our package. Like I told (Sapolu), you don't have to come out here and be a superstar, just learn what we're doing." (HSB)

About learning the offense this spring, London Sapolu said:
"My goal right now is knowing the plays like the back of my hand, not having to think about it, but when I hear it, bam, I should know what to do. You know, technically-wise, I know I have the ability to play. It's just getting the stuff down is the hard part." (HSB)

Asked about his father Jesse, London said that his Dad calls him:
"about 10 times a day. He asks me how my body feels, not so much the pressure of 'are you playing?' He just wants to know how I'm feeling and make sure I'm safe." (HSB)

About how they wouldn't recruit any JC OL who couldn't arrive in the spring, Gordy Shaw said:
"It was the ONLY thing. To try to bring a junior college guy in in August, and expect them to learn all (the plays) and be a contributing factor, it wouldn't happen. By then, other guys in the program would have passed him. ... So it was a non-issue. We were looking for one mid-year JC guy, and that's what we got." (HSB)

HSB Note: "In the 6-5, 225-pound Bright, UH has a receiver with both size and speed. Though he was already familiar with spread offenses from his time at City College of San Francisco, he is grateful for the jump-start on the Warriors' complex run-and-shoot attack."

Happy that he can go through Spring Practice, Darius Bright said:
"Oh, I feel like I did (make) a good decision to come here in the spring, to learn the offense, to get a feel for the field. And go farther from there. I just want to be on top of it. Natural. I don't want to think about where to go or zone coverages or anything. I just want to know off the top of my head," -- he snapped his fingers twice -- "and that's the thing, right now it's a process. Oh, if I was to come in the fall and do that, I'd have been like, 'Whoa.' " (HSB)

About how Bright can be a weapon for their offense, Ron Lee said:
"Once he gets what we're doing ... it's only been three days. By the end of spring he's going to be a force to be reckoned with." (HSB)
