"It's worked out for the best. Look at how well Moniz is doing. He's having a good season, better than what I could have had, no doubt in my mind. I watch him making a lot of those throws and reads, and the poise he has. I know it's not easy. I walked in those shoes before. I see him doing a lot of great things out there. It looks good for the team's future." (HA)
About his new roles as RB and special teams player, Inoke said:
"I find when I'm watching the game, I'm attentive to all of the little things." (HA)
About how he made a tackle on a kickoff in the Navy game, his first tackle since Pop Warner, Inoke said;
"I had no technique. Really, it happened so fast. It was like how I used to tackle my brothers when we were little kids in the living room. I was holding on. As soon as he went down, I was all jacked. I told the guys, 'Now I know why you get all jacked up when you make a tackle.' It's a rush." (HA)
"That was my first tackle since either Pop Warner or since I tackled my older brothers in the living room. That was a rush. I was super excited, especially because it was a solo tackle. I told those guys, 'Now I know how it feels, now I know why you get so jacked up.' I got me one." (HSB)
HSB Note: "Following his two-year LDS mission in the Dominican Republic, Funaki spent the first three years learning the run-and-shoot under Jones and started six games at quarterback last season. During his run, he piloted the Warriors to the program's lone road win over a ranked opponent with a victory at Fresno State."
About how he hasn't gotten much playing time outside of being on the coverage units and as a holder on FGs and extra points, Inoke said:
"My parents always told me every role is important. Some roles are bigger than others, but everybody needs to do their part in order for it to work." (HSB)
About watching Bryant Moniz and Shane Austin run their offense as QB, Inoke said:
"I think it's more beneficial for the team because they are the future. I'm excited for them. I think they have a lot ahead of them." (HSB)
About the Kahuku graduates who joined UH after him, including Kamalani Alo, Tuiaka Tufaga and Aulola Tonga, Inoke said:
"We went to church together and I knew (Tonga) when he was up to my knee and now I'm up to his neck. It's crazy." (HSB)
Appreciating the moments now that he's about to play his final regular season game, Inoke said:
"I'm just trying to savor it. You can't stop the inevitable, but you try to savor it and cherish the last moments." (HSB)
