Washington State tried to schedule the UH game for a different date in 2011, but UH could not accommodate them

SR = Spokesman Review

About how they needed to remove the 11/26 UH game from their schedule due to new Pac-10 scheduling rules, Washington State Athletic Director Jim Sterk said:
"The 2011 meeting between Washington State and Hawai'i has been removed from the Cougars schedule to allow for flexibility in the Pac-10 Conference slate that year. WSU and the conference are looking at ways to create an off week during a 12-game schedule and this allows us the opportunity to adjust accordingly." (HA)

About not being able to play UH on 11/26/11, Sterk said:
"We need that weekend open." (SR)

SR Note: "The Cougars still have the opening weekend free, but Hawaii couldn't move to that date, Sterk said."
