Davone Bess hopes his good play in their final preseason game carries him into the regular season

PBP = Palm Beach Post

PBP Note: "As a result of his own high standards, the Dolphins' second-year wide receiver wasn't happy about his play in the three preseason games prior to Thursday night at New Orleans. In those games he had just four catches for 30 yards, with a handful of drops. So nobody was happier than Bess when Dolphin quarterbacks Chad Pennington and Chad Henne went to him early and often Thursday. He wound up with team highs of five catches for 39 yards. Three of his catches resulted in first downs."

Happy to have finally met his expectations this preseason, Bess said:
"This was a good way for me to get this little monkey off my back. I was happy to have this opportunity; now I want to carry it into the regular season." (PBP)

Asked if he's more comfortable in the slot or outside, Bess said:
"I'm most comfortable on the field. I want to go out and continue to do that, whether it's inside or outside." (PBP)

About going 4-0 under Coach Sparano this preseason and 7-1 during his two preseasons, Bess said:
"Coach always stresses that we want to practice being winners. Anytime you compete you want to win, whether it's an individual or team situation. We won all four games, and now we want to ride this wave into the regular season." (PBP)

Looking forward to the regular season, Bess said:
"It's been a long, long time since we lined up and got it going in the regular season. We're ready to put that anxiety away and go out and play some ball." (PBP)
