Feature on Inoke

About how having Inoke at RB gives them the option to move him to QB without substituting players, Ron Lee said:
"He's really in the best of two worlds, learning the running game. We can leave him in there, switch, do a lot of things with him in the ballgame. Move him from fullback to quarterback without subbing, things like that." (HSB)

HSB Note: "So, Inoke, is it weird to go from being protected ...
..."To protecting the guy?" Inoke Funaki finished off the question himself with a laugh." "

About adjusting to blocking at RB, Inoke said:
"Yeah, it is definitely different. I always joke around a lot, you know, giving the quarterbacks a hard time. Sometimes I joke around, but I'm always like, 'Don't worry, I got your back, I got your back.'" (HSB)

About how Inoke has been blocking well, Ron Lee said:
"That was the big question — his blocking, and he's doing fine. He's a tough guy and he'll play hard, so that wasn't the issue. It's just the size. But he's strong, and I think he'll be OK, as far as blocking." (HSB)

About needing to adjust his style while at RB, Inoke said:
"Just gotta get into more of an aggressive mental state. Go and attack. You got big guys coming, so you don't want to just be soft because you'll get blown back into the quarterback. I gotta go and meet them at the line of scrimmage and be willing to butt heads. If you don't go full speed, then you're going to get rolled." (HSB)

About how Inoke has a good chance to earn playing time at RB, RB coach Brian Smith said:
"Inoke's going to get a real good look from us because we think he's a tremendous athlete, and can help us on Saturdays. He's got a different feel to him than a lot of the younger players. He takes coaching very well, he's very calm, and understands coaching and how we're trying to approach him being a running back. I think he has a good understanding of what we want out of him, so he's responded really well to it." (HSB)

HSB Note: "Lee said the coaches would decide over the summer whether to make the move permanent."

About focusing on blocking instead of the WRs running their routes, Inoke said:
"It's definitely a different mind-set. I'm not looking at the routes anymore. I'm looking for guys to get my guy. It's cool though — I don't mind it at all. I like it. It's fun, I look forward to it." (HSB)
