JC DT David Hafoka commits to the Warriors!

About how he already earned his associate degree from the College of San Mateo and will enroll at UH in January, 6'2", 310-pound DT David Hafoka said:
"Everything is good to go." (HA)

About choosing UH over offers from Utah and Arizona, Hafoka said:
"Hawai'i seemed like a place where I would fit in. I feel comfortable there." (HA)

San Mateo head coach Larry Owens said that UH is:
"getting a great young man. They'll be very proud to have him in their program." (HA)

About how Hafoka played NT in their 3-4 D, San Mateo DC Tim Tulloch said:
"His job was to dominate the center every down. He won a lot more than he lost. He was a big part of the reason we finished (number) 1 or 2 in rushing defense." (HA)

Tulloch describes Hafoka as a NT:
"who can control the line of scrimmage. He's extremely physical. He's great with his hands. He can hold the point and anchor down. And he can put pressure on the quarterback. He really fits the Warrior mode." (HA)

HA Note: "Hafoka started every game in 2006. That year, his San Mateo teammates were future Warriors Ray Hisatake, Francis Maka and Calvin Roberts. He missed the 2007 season because of an infection in his right leg. Hafoka started every game this season at nose tackle."

About how it rained during all but 6 hours of his recruiting visit, Hafoka said:
"I had a nice time. I didn't mind the rain." (HA)

About how Hisatake served as his host, Hafoka said:
"He's a really good guy. He told me a lot of good things about the program and the coaches." (HA)

Praising Hafoka, Owens said:
"David is one of the great kids. He's an awesome kid, someone you'd like to have in your family." (HA)

About how Hafoka's teammates respect him, Owens said:
"Whatever you ask him to do, he does. I hold him to a high standard. He's a guy you love to have around. He's a hard-working kid. He just wants to excel. We've had a great experience with him." (HA)
