Kamalani Alo commits to the Warriors!

Alo talked about how he received interest from Utah and Oregon State but chose UH because:
"it's home. I want to play in front of family. I really like UH." (HA)

HA Note: "Kamalani Alo, who is 6 feet 1 1/2 and 190 pounds, is projected to compete at safety for the Warriors. He is an outside linebacker for Kahuku. He also is a member of the track team — 100-meter sprint, 110 hurdles, 4x100 relay, shot put and discus — and a sweeper in soccer."

About how Paipai Falemalu is his mentor, Alo said:
"He helped me become an outside linebacker." (HA)

About how Kamalani was born with fair skin and light hair, his Mom Deedee Alo said:
"When my mother saw him, she said his Hawaiian name should be Kamalani. He's the unique child from heaven." (HA)

HA Note: "But Stan Alo said his son was named after an Israel Kamakawiwo'ole song. Deedee Alo said her son's middle name, Tulagatasi, means high chief in Samoan."

About how he and his wife Deedee are long-time Warrior fans, Kanalani's Dad, Stan Alo, said:
"We try to go to games." (HA)

About how Kamalani is considering going on a church mission after he turns 19 (he'll be 17 when he graduates), Stan Alo said:
"He'll have a lot of time for school and football." (HA)

About how Deedee and are happy with Kamalani's decision, Stan Alo said:
"He's going to a very good program. He's getting a good opportunity to go to school and to play football. It's great that his tuition will be paid. That's one less bill for his parents." (HA)

About joining the Warriors' D, Kamalani said:
"I like their defense. It looks really good." (HA)

About why they moved Kamalani to safety this season, Kahuku coach Reggie Torres said:
“He can cover ground. That’s why we moved him to safety. His speed is phenomenal.” (HA)

About Kamalani's work ethic, Torres said:
“He’s got great ability, and it’s all based on his work ethic. He’s not afraid to train.” (HA)
