Feature on UH in the Idaho Statesman
IS = Idaho Statesman
About how their D is now the face of their team, Sol Eliminian said:
"The defense is going to be the face of the team, and rightfully so. We have to step up on defense." (IS)
About how he believes in the run-and-shoot, Mack said:
"I really believe the scheme is as good as there is in football. I've believed in this forever. The Patriots use it. Everybody uses a part of it." (IS)
Comparing UH's D to the Miami D he coached in 93-94 (ranked the #1 defenses in the nation!), Mack said:
"If this group isn't close to that one, then I haven't seen one." (IS)
About how things were crazy in January, Sol said:
"It was crazy how it all went down last year. Losing the Sugar Bowl, it definitely hurt, a lot. It was devastating. And then to find out our head coach, who has been a staple at UH, decided to take the SMU job. It all hit us at one time. There was a lot of anger, a lot of sadness. Then we found out Coach Mack would be our head coach. He's done great things." (IS)
