Jim Donovan's contract is still not done!

Praising JD, KFVE/KHNL VP and GM John Fink said:
"He's been great for the job. He bleeds green and black and has the best interests of the university and state at heart. He'll do the best job anyone could ask for." (HA)

HA Note: "Today is the 108th day since Jim Donovan was officially named University of Hawai'i athletic director. But, who's counting? Well, you might be if you still didn't have a contract. And, Donovan doesn't. Officially, according to a spokesman for the Manoa Chancellor's Office, Donovan's contract is, "still pending." Pending what, exactly? Someone untying red tape surrounding it? Someone growing tired of playing power games?"

  1. I think we all know about how timely UH is in finalizing contracts. Ask JJ about that.

  3. I cannot believe that his contract isn't done already and completely agreed with Ferd's commentary on the delay.

  4. Excuse me for being tres gauche, but I wonder if he's been getting paid all this time. We would probably be in foreclosure if I was not drawing income for six months.

  5. Thanks for bringing this to light. Hope it gets resolved real soon.

  6. I still like the idea that Jim Donovan joked about once regarding the $400K+ that JJ still owes UH- double or nothing "winner take all" game between the UH Warriors and SMU here at Aloha Stadium. Guaranty sellout, and can you imagine the press coverage over something like that? ESPN would eat it up!

  7. Based on UH Upper Admin past actions or lack thereof, should we be surprised that JD's contract is not completed? Looks like another behind the scene investigation that needs to be brought to light similar to the SB game travel list. Since his contract has yet to be on the agenda for the BOR, I am 'assuming' the contract is stuck with either the Chancellor, the President or with UH Legal eagles.
WarroirMojo, maybe the admin waiting for the new fiscal year to confirm his contract, using these past several months as his unofficial 'probation period'. Maybe JD will be offered to be AD for another university 'ala' JJ before his contract is tendered for his review. Sorry for my tongue in cheek.
