Colt's hip surgery was successful
About his hip surgery (2-hour operation at teh Vail Valley Surgery Center), Colt said:
"It was a complete success .It was a little sore, but it wasn't bad, and I did it." (HA)
Note: Colt rode a stationary bicycle for 20 minutes just 1 hour after surgery!
HA Note: "Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Warren Kramer accompanied Brennan to Vail. Renowned hip specialist Dr. Marc Philippon performed the surgery."
About how the doctor said that it was good he chose to have the surgery, Colt said:
"They saw exactly what was the issue and they cleared up everything. The doctor came in and said: 'I really think you did the right thing. I can guarantee you'll be better than ever and you'll never have to worry about this ever again.' " (HA)
HA Note: "Brennan said he expects to begin throwing from a stationary position and doing upper-body weightlifting in two weeks. He said he should be able to run sprints at full speed in eight weeks."
Looking forward to being healthy again, Colt said:
"Truth is, come July, I'll be better than I've ever been, as far as physically." (HA)
About why he rode the stationary bike so soon after the surgery, Colt said:
"There's a ton of swelling and you have to flush the fluid. This is part of the process." (HSB)
Colt said that his surgery, the first of his football career
"was great." (HSB)
HSB Note: "although he was in considerable pain afterward."
About the good news from his surgery, Colt said:
"The doctor (renowned hip surgeon Marc Philippon) said the good news is that it was exactly what was diagnosed, and nothing worse." (HSB)
HSB Note: "That means Brennan can start practicing soon after the NFL Draft. The normal recovery time for the surgery is eight to 12 weeks, but Brennan was told he might be able to accelerate his rehab."
About how he might be able to accelerate his rehab and participate in mini-camp after the draft, Colt said:
"I should be able to start working out with my upper body in 10 days. Basically, I can start throwing, stationary, in two weeks if everything goes well. I can still go to mini-camp (the week after the April 26-27 draft) and at least put on the gear and do some things." (HSB)
About how Colt's NFL draft status is so unpredictable, an NFL scout said:
"It's been so zigzag. Right now it's impossible to tell when he'll be drafted." (HSB)
