Quotes about Colt and some recruiting updates

About working out at Orange Coast College near his Irvine home to prepare for the Senior Bowl, Colt said:
"It's a brand-new facility and it's got everything I need." (HSB)

HSB Note: "Brennan also said he has been invited to participate in a Quarterback Challenge event that will be held in conjunction with the Super Bowl later this month in Phoenix."

About the Sugar Bowl loss, Colt said:
"I have no regrets; it's something I'll cherish forever." (HSB)

About working with trainer Doug Hix to gain strength and bulk after losing weight due to the flu, Colt said:
"I'm trying to get my size back, I don't even want to say what my weight is now. Dude, three meals a day and three snacks. Food constantly." (HSB)

About working on taking snaps under center, Colt said:
"All that matters is when I meet up with my center and developing the relationship. At Mater Dei and Colorado we were in the West Coast offense, so I know how to take the snap and drop back. Plus we did it two days a week (at UH)." (HSB)

Happy that GM was chosen to replace JJ, Colt said:
"I'm extremely excited about him. The program has been left in good hands. The more I think about it, our defense will be awesome, and the guys in that offense will continue to progress. It's Tyler's (quarterback Graunke) time to shine." (HSB)

About putting his coaching staff together, GM said:
"Everyone has to re-apply." (HSB)

HSB Note: "It is expected that Cal Lee (linebackers, defensive coordinator), Ron Lee (receivers, offensive coordinator), George Lumpkin (defensive ends) and Rich Miano (defensive backs) will be retained from the current staff, and former UH players Nick Rolovich (QBs) and Brian Smith (offensive line) will join the staff."

About the 6 recruits visiting them this weekend, GM said:
"We'll make some offers to some guys and we hope to get some commitments." (HSB)

HSB Note: "The new head coach said the UH recruiting system will be reorganized, with more emphasis on face-to-face interaction."

About visiting SMU next week, safety Chris Banjo (who committed to UH last fall) said:
"I'm still very interested in Hawaii, but Coach (Jeff) Reinebold made a big impact on me and I would like to follow him." (HSB)

HSB Note: "Punahou defensive end J.J. Autele said he was offered a UH scholarship by Reinebold, but doesn't know where he stands now. He said he also has an offer from San Diego State."

Asked if Mario Cox and B.J. Fruean would be reinstated to the team, GM said:
"They're not on our team, they were dismissed. I'll talk to them and see where they are academically and make a decision in the coming weeks." (HSB)
