Quotes about UH's #18 BCS ranking
Confident that UH will make it into a BCS game if they go undefeated, Karl Benson said:
"I'm not even worried about it. No apprehension at all. If they win out, they get picked." (HA)
"I'm confident that the system is in place to get them there. History shows an undefeated team from one of the five non-guaranteed conferences gets to No. 12." (HA)
Jerry Palm of CollegeBCS.com says that UH's chances are "50-50" because:
"Hawai'i's schedule is so bad they might not crack the Top 15 in the computers, even at 12-0." (HA)
"They could, but Hawai'i's schedule is so bad that they might not crack the Top 15 in the computers, even at 12-0. That means they are going to need the help of the (poll) voters. But for at least another month, it has no way to impress them." (HA)
HA Note: "The Warriors' strength of schedule is the weakest in Division I-A and last in a composite of the computers. But their No. 16 ranking in the two human polls used — USA Today and Harris Interactive — has so far been a boon. It might be more so if not for the number of upsets playing out above them and their own difficulty in blowing out WAC teams."
Palm added:
"there are three things that would really help Hawai'i:
A few more upsets (of top teams) to help clear the way up the polls.
One of the BCS conferences ends up with a stinker of a champion so that Hawai'i doesn't have to get as high as No. 12 in the BCS.
Quit letting bad teams take them to (overtime)." (HA)
Worried about winning games, not the BCS, right now, JJ said:
"I don't know what to think about it other than I don't worry about it until the end of the year. It is too early to be thinking on those terms, anyway. (UH needs) to just keep winning them one at a time." (HA)
