Quotes about Samson and Reagan from Miami's GM
Asked how they found Samson and Reagan, both rookie starters with Miami, Miami's GM Mueller was asked if one of them led to them finding the other:
"Actually they weren’t together when we identified them as being players for us. Samson Satele was known by most throughout his senior year. Reagan Mauia wasn’t on the prospect list until later because he was a defensive linemen converted to fullback and wasn’t invited to the combine. We saw him at a workout in Los Angeles. That was our first exposure to him." (MiamiDolphins.com)
Asked if he went to Hawaii to meet with the Warriors, Mueller said:
"I didn’t, but those kids come to L.A. for their workouts in the spring. They put on a Hawaii senior day at the Compact Center there. It’s great for us. I went there with our west coast scout and the fullback jumped out at us as a kid that had all sorts of raw talent. So we went back and looked at the film and spoke to June Jones, the Hawaii coach. Also, the running back coach at Hawaii, Wes Swan, coached me in college. I had a couple of conversations with him and he obviously loved Mauia." (MiamiDolphins.com)
