Quotes about the Bess/Dooley incident at La Tech

About Dooley's side of his incident with Bess during the La Tech game, La Tech sports information director Malcolm Butler spoke with Dooley and said:
"He said the play ended and a Bulldogs player and Davone were jawing at each other, and he said to both players, 'Just shut up and go play football.' He said there was no swearing involved." (HSB)

Insisting that Dooley swore at him, Bess said:
"He used some language that was very unnecessary and I felt disrespected. It's something you definitely don't expect from a head coach. I'm not trying to make him look bad, I just hope he doesn't do it again to somebody else." (HSB)

HSB Note: "In another incident in Saturday's game against Cal, Dooley slapped LaTech offensive lineman Ben Harris across his helmet. Dooley said he later apologized to Harris."
