Quotes from training camp
About training camp, which ends on Saturday, Colt said:
"Camp has gone by really fast. We want to make sure we have a great ending to camp and we go into our normal routine feeling good about ourselves. I think it's been a great camp, but we have to keep working hard. How hard we work will make our season." (HA)
Looking forward to being able to move out of the dance studios and be back with his family, Michael Lafaele said:
"It's going to be good to see my family. I can't wait to go home." (HA)
About training camp, JJ said:
"We got a lot of work done." (HA)
About how they need to finish their camp strong, Lafaele said:
"We want to keep that momentum going until that first game. Every rep. Every down. We have to finish strong." (HA)
About how they focused on improving themselves in this camp, unlike last year's camp that focused on Alabama, Colt said:
"Because we're opening at home, we need to make sure we take care of ourselves before anything. If we do that, we'll be all right." (HA)
About how his hometown of Gulfport, Miss. was hit directly by Katrina, Gibson talked about returning home and finding his town in rubbles:
"There were so many people who had been there all their lives, and all of their hard work was gone, just from one incident. My heart goes out to them. They're still struggling." (HA)
When he was told about Flossie, Gibson thought:
I feel like, man, a hurricane is following me. It's like lightning striking again." (HA)
About how his cell phone's voicemail was filled after he returned from practice, Gibson said:
"My family kept calling me and warning me. I had at least 16 voice mails: 'There's a hurricane coming. You need to be safe.' I hope everybody is all right. I know how bad things can be." (HA)
About how he felt discomfort in his knee while doing a cutback drill, safety Erik Pederson said:
"My knee gave out. They're doing tests on it. The (anterior cruciate ligament) felt loose." (HA)
Note: Pederson had an MRI to check on the knee. He previously suffered a torn ACL in the same knee.
About how he sat out practice with a bruised right hand, suffered from the "clubbing" technique, Lafaele said:
"It's swollen." (HA)
About how he's shifted from tackle to guard to center since he joined the Warriors last August, Lipp said:
"It's tough getting used to, but I think I'm getting the hang of it." (HA)
About how it is hard to maintain his assigned weight of 285, especially with their 3-hour practices in training camp, Lipp (who is 6'3", 280 pounds now) said:
"It's tough gaining weight in training camp. I lost eight pounds over a two-day span." (HA)
