Quotes about Samson
About the extra time after practice that he and the other rookie OL have had with OL coach Hudson Houck, Samson said:
"He wanted the young guys to stay out there because he wants us to learn this system real fast, faster than any rookies that came in a couple of years ago or last year. It's good that Houck takes his time to stay out there with us and run the show because we've got like six rookies on the offensive line. We're all getting it, we're all in the playbook, we just got to get more reps in and that's why we stay after practice." (MiamiDolphins.com)
MD Note: "Satele, a second-round pick out of Hawaii, pointed to a few specific things he needs to work on, like getting to the defender before he gets to him and get on his edge among other things.
As for the criticism the line faced from the fans and the media, Satele said that was needed as a wake-up call, and the desire to take the heat off is serving as motivation. On Monday, he said all the line heard about was the Jacksonville game and the mental errors that were committed.
Satele also said they want to win the fans back, and showed a little sense of humor when asked about going into a game without a plan by answering – "We didn't have a game plan and we stuck to it." "
Praising their rookie OL, specifically Samson, Trent Green said:
"They're doing a great job. This is a multiple, multiple offense in terms of run game, pass game, protections. There's a lot that goes on and the center has to shoulder a large responsibility of that. I think Samson is doing a great job of (sharpening the communication). He's grown exponentially throughout this whole process, the offseason and the training camp. His communication, I can continually hear him talking and communicating with the guys on the line, and that's very important." (MiamiDolphins.com)
About how the coaches were hard on them in practice because of their game performance, Samson said:
"They got on us a lot the whole day yesterday up until our practice. It was a wake-up call for us. I know I woke up. I don't want coach Cam on me anymore." (MH)
