Quotes about Jeff Ulbrich

About how camp has gone, Ulbrich said:
"I think camp has gone very well personally and from a team perspective. It seems like we are a lot further along than we have been here in the past couple of years. Personally I’m just going out and trying to compete and if I start, that’s great. If I don’t, then I’ve made the guy ahead of me better. I’m really having a good time working on special teams which is something I’ve not really done in the past. It’s given me a little bit of new life to get out there and learn something different." Praising Ulbrich, VP of Player Personnel Scot McCloughan said:
"He's had a really good camp. The one thing that is very positive about Jeff is that he's very consistent and he's a tough guy. He's a football player through and through. He'll do anything you ask of him for the team, and has become a special teams contributor for us this camp." (49ers.com)

49ers.com Note: "Jeff is a big fan of Ultimate Fighting. In fact, the linebacker incorporates the style in his workouts. He frequently watches events with his wife and started using the training when a friend converted an old building into a fighting studio. At the studio, Jeff wrestles, practices ninjitsu and also takes part in other cross training activities. He says the alternate workouts increase his cardiovascular stamina to a different level because they are executed in a controlled environment."

Asked about the one thing he came to camp with, Ulbrich said:
"my vitamins, my playbook and a few pairs of clothes that I wear about 7 or 8 times before they get washed." (49ers.com)

Asked about his best brawl, Ulbrich said:
"Might have been mine my second year here. It started out with one of the defensive lineman and someone on offense, so I jumped in and suddenly Jeremy Newberry and Dave Fiore got in it, and it was five on one before I knew it. It came out bloody." (49ers.com)

Asked about the strangest thing he've seen someone bring to camp, Ulbrich said:
"Tony Parrish would bring his hyperbaric chamber into his room and sleep in it. I thought that was pretty weird." (49ers.com)

Asked about the grumpiest person at breakfast, Ulbrich said:
"I’m going to go with Brandon Moore. Before he gets his coffee, he’s pretty grumpy." (49ers.com)

Asked about his camp highlight, Ulbrich said:
"I’d probably say my rookie camp. I looked up to so many of the guys I was playing with – Ken Norton Jr. and Jerry Rice, and to be out here mixing it up with them was probably the most fun I had." (49ers.com)

Asked who was their worst singer, Ulbrich said:
"Patrick Willis could have been one of the worst I’ve ever heard. It was not only a bad voice, he just didn’t sell it. There was no enthusiasm there. It was a poor showing. We booed him." (49ers.com)

Asked about his likes and dislikes, Ulbrich said:
"I like being around my teammates and friends and building chemistry and rapport with them. The worst thing is how your body feels after the first week." (49ers.com)

Asked who is the coach's pet, Ulbrich said:
"Brandon Moore." (49ers.com)

Asked what was the worst training camp drill, Ulbrich said:
"Singletary Shuffle and the drill underneath the chute, without a doubt. It sucks. The worst part about it is that you don’t recover from it and you play practice just exhausted and your legs are gone, so it’s challenging." (49ers.com)
