Jake Patek quotes

http://www.thevictoriaadvocate.com/195/story/101312.html

About all of the people back home thought he'd be darker because he's in Hawaii now, Patek said:
"I go back home and everybody tells me they thought I'd be a little bit darker or have a tan. But we don't have any time to go to the beach. It's just school and football. Those are the only two things you have any time for." (VA)

Feeling that they will have a great season, Patek said:
"There have been a lot of people who have been coming out and saying they're really excited about the season. They're hoping for big things. I think this year is going to be a great year for us." (VA)

About the loss to Alabama at the start of last season, Patek's first D1A start, Patek said:
"We felt we probably should have won that game. We did play them close and it showed what kind of program we have out here at Hawaii." (VA)

About Colt coming back, Patek said:
"Colt helped us out by coming back, so the least we can do is help him out. His poise and leadership skills will really help us out in the long run. Hopefully, we can get some turnovers and get the ball back to the offense for him." (VA)

About their hopes for a BCS game this year, Patek said:
"It's not just an average program. Everybody can see we're a little bit above average and hopefully this year we'll have a chance to go to a BCS game. Granted we do have a pretty weak schedule, but it doesn't matter what kind of schedule you have, just as long as you play everybody hard and get the W." (VA)

About how the team, especially Colt, feels they have something to prove, Patek said:
"We do feel like we have something to prove. I know Colt feels like he has something to prove because he set or tied like 16 NCAA records last year for passing. He feels like that he's deserves a little more recognition for what he's done." (VA)

About how JJ tells them that they can compete with any team despite their facilities, Patek said:
"Coach (June) Jones has said we can play with anybody. Just because we're over here in Hawaii and we don't have the best of facilities, doesn't mean we can't play football." (VA)
