ASU claims they did not turn down UH for this season

About how Karl Benson told the HSB that ASU, Oregon State, and Washington State rejected offers from Hawaii that came with a $1 mil guarantee for a game in Hawaii on Oct. 20, ASU associate AD Mark Brand (who does ASU's schedule) said:
"None of that is true," said Mark Brand, ASU associate athletic director who puts together the football schedule. "I never talked to Hawaii."
AZ Republic Note: "The WAC did approach the Pac-10, Brand said, to see generally if any teams were interested in a game. Certainly Herman Frazier, Hawaii athletic director and former long-time ASU athletic administrator, would have contacted Brand to make a serious pitch to ASU."
