Quotes from Herman Frazier
About the 2008 schedule, HF said:
"As you know, we're looking at one I-AA. I might change that. There might be a I-A team we can put in that spot, the week between Florida and Oregon State. However, it's still my intent to have '08 (the schedule) done by the end of August." (HSB)
HF said that he'd finish the scheduel:
"before the end of the summer." (HA)
About the guaranteed checks that will be given for home-and-home deals, HF said:
"Whatever we give them, they will give us." (HSB)
Feeling that Marion Higa doesn't need to audit UH Athletics, HF said:
"We have an outside independent audit, every single year. It is a very sound independent audit. It has to be done for the NCAA. You have certified public accountants from some top two or three firms in the country doing our audit. So our audit is our audit." (HSB)
About how they have sold more than 6000 tickets to the game at UNLV already, HF said:
"That more than 6,000 tickets are already spoken for is pretty darn good. I thought we could do it, that's why I asked for 10,000. We probably could have gone as high as 12,000, 13,000. The other thing down the road is it shows people that the University of Hawai'i and its fans will buy tickets to an away game," Frazier added. "One of these days we will be playing in a bowl game off the island and it (Mainland turnout) is going to make a difference." (HA)
"There is no question that being able to show that you can travel to Las Vegas or San Jose or Fresno — any place on the West Coast — bodes well for this university. I think it is a statement. Obviously, we love the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl first, but there is always a chance (of another bowl), depending on where you are ranked and what kind of payouts. I think whenever the time comes, we need to be ready." (HA)
