Quotes about new Warrior Jeremiah Alexander
Houston Yates Defensive Coordinator Jeff Ceasar praised Alexander:
"Jeremiah is a good cover corner and could play safety if needed. He can run, hit and also be a return specialist at the next level. He's really talented. As far as the distance goes, I don't think that would really affect his decision." (rivals.com)
"He hits hard and he's a hard worker. He'll out-work his opponent day in and day out. He has great instincts as a DB. He's a big-time pickup for Hawai'i." (HA)
About Alexander's 3.5 GPA and NCAA-qualifying SAT score, Ceasar said:
"He's never going to be a problem in the classroom." (HA)
Note: Alexander is a member of the National Honor Society.
About committing to UH, 5'10" Alexander said:
"It's a great school for me." (HA)
"The distance isn't a problem for me. I like the teamwork that they show (at UH) and the NFL coaches that they have." (HSB)
Note: HSB claims that Alexander is 5'7".
Alexander said that UH's offer 2 weeks ago:
"came out of nowhere" (HA)
HA Note: "After that, he used the Internet to research the Warriors. He also said he was impressed with UH defensive line coach Jeff Reinebold."
Praising Coach Reinbold, Alexander said:
"Coach Jeff was cool. He seemed real. It wasn't like he was hiding anything." (HA)
HA Note: "Alexander was named to the 4-A All-State first team.
Alexander recently was measured at 5 feet 10 at the Houston combine. He weighs 175."
Coach Ceasar also coached UH's starting LCB Gerard Lewis, and is arranging for Lewis and Alexander to meet:
"I'll get that connection going. There's a lot of talent in Houston, and Hawai'i has a great system. I hope we can get a pipeline going. This is a good start. Jeremiah has a good character with a good family background. Hawai'i will never have a problem with him. With his work ethic, I'm not worried about him." (HA)
About how UH will stay in Houston between the La Tech and UNLV games, HF said:
"It is a financial savings in the long run and more beneficial for our players." (HA)
HA Note: "Frazier said he expects to save as much as $40,000 in travel costs. He said the team would travel with tutors and hold study halls to minimize the class time missed in the first month of school."
About how they plan to stay in Houston, Colt said:
"I like it. It is hard to fly back (to Hawai'i) and then turn around and fly right back." (HA)
Note: Staying in Houston between the La Tech game and the UNLV game will save money, reduce wear-and-tear on the players, and help build the Houston-to-UH pipeline even further. I'm sure that a number of coaches will be able to talk with Houston high school coaches then, plus UH will probably have open practices that Alexander, Frankson, and lots of future potential recruits could attend.
With JJ's background as an Oilers coach and UH's success with Houston players lately, I think that staying in Houston this year could be a huge advantage for future recruiting!
